Families across Northwest Louisiana are receiving expanded support for food access through a recent investment in regional hunger relief efforts.

A $35,000 contribution to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana is helping strengthen emergency food assistance for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity throughout the region. The funding supports increased food distribution, enhanced pantry operations, and mobile food programs designed to reach rural and underserved communities.

“Food insecurity remains a serious challenge for families in many parts of Northwest Louisiana,” said Jamie Schlottman, Plan President of Louisiana Healthcare Connections. “The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana is a vital partner in addressing those needs, and this funding helps ensure families have access to nutritious food during times of hardship.”

This effort is part of a broader $125,000 investment focused on improving food access across Louisiana. Funding is being distributed to regional food banks statewide to expand services, meet rising demand, and improve access to healthy food in communities where it is needed most.

Access to consistent, nutritious food plays a key role in overall health and well-being. Addressing food insecurity is an important step in supporting long-term health outcomes, particularly in communities facing economic and geographic barriers to care.

“This funding strengthens our ability to respond to increased demand and reach families across our service area,” said Martha Marak, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. “We appreciate the continued partnership in helping us fight hunger in our communities.”

By investing in local partners, this initiative helps ensure that more families across Northwest Louisiana have reliable access to the food and resources they need.
