Clear vision is essential for children to succeed in school, yet many go without the screenings and eye care they need. Recently, the Love One Louisiana Foundation, founded by First Lady Sharon Landry, partnered with the Centene Foundation and Louisiana Healthcare Connections to provide free vision screenings at two schools in rural communities in South and Central Louisiana.
The screenings held at D.F. Huddle Elementary in Alexandria and St. Charles Street Elementary School in Jeanerette offered no-cost vision screenings to the students, ensuring that children can see clearly in the classroom.
“For children to do well in school, they need to be able to see properly,” said First Lady Sharon Landry, founder of the Love One Louisiana Foundation. “By bringing vision screenings directly to these schools, we’re helping to remove barriers that prevent children from reaching their full potential—both in the classroom and in life.”
This initiative is made possible through the support of the Centene Foundation and Louisiana Healthcare Connections, whose shared commitment to improving access to care helps strengthen the health and well-being of Louisiana families.
